Your party rules are perfect, IMHO.
I don't get the whole shadow/no shadow thing. Either way, there's still more winter and that? Sucks.
A lesson I learned this year:
Never try to explain Ground Hog Day to a bunch of Japanese students...too many elements they. just. don't. get.
